Nick started sailing dinghies at a young age at Murray's Bay sailing club. From a young age Nick much preferred double hand sailing.

At the age of 15 his father got him into sailing skiffs. Nick started with the double handed single trapeze cherub, then moved onto 12ft skiffs at 16 yo. He has now done a number of years crewing and steering 12ft skiffs. He's also had a big involvement in 18ft skiffs in Auckland in the past 5-6 years. Nick has gained success at National level in the 12 and 18 foot skiffs as a crew and skipper.

 

Nick has also sailed on a number of keels boats over the years, from 20ft to 60ft in size in various different regattas. He first meet the Waka Racing boys in early 2012 at a China Team training camp for the Americas Cup. From there he did the first WMRT event with Waka in Germany last year.
