Its been a pretty hectic 2 weeks for all of us involved with Waka Racing with it all coming to a head with us making the final of the Monsoon Cup. Going into the final the event of the Alpari World Match Race Tour (AWMRT) we had a big chip on our shoulder with regards to us lagging in the overall standings in 7th place. We felt this did not represent our season at all well and on top of that our regular bowman was unable to sail with us due to a broken leg. So to say we had a point to prove was a bit of an understatement. read more

So far the Alpari World Match Race Tour 2012 season has been a bit up and down for all of us involved with Waka Racing. After a cracking start to the season winning Match Race Germany, then following that up with 3rd and 4th places in Korea and Sweden this should have had us placed right near the top of the leaderboard come the business end of the season. read more

Today was a great day for us here in Malaysia. We went into it with three races to go and came away with three victories. This put us on 8 wins – 3 losses drawing us level at the top with flying, fellow, kiwi William Tiller. Unfortunately for us we lost the tie on countback putting us in 2nd place at the conclusion of the round robin. read more

Wind, wind and more wind greeted us for the last two days of racing here in Chicago. With us qualifying 2nd for the quarter finals we picked USA legend Bill Hardesty. It went to the wire. We were going win for win with us, digging deep to win the last race by 3 feet. Exciting racing in extremely challenging conditions. We win 3-2 read more

Pristine conditions greeted us this morning as we left the dock. The sun was shining and the breeze was blowing. Perfect for racing. We didn't have the best start, promptly losing our first two races by small margins. To the teams credit we fought back in the third by putting a double penalty on Torvar Mirsky in a fierce luffing match downwind. read more

Stunning, is probably going to be the most used word this week. It describes St Moritz, Switzerland to a tee. We are 1775 meters above sea level in the Swiss Alps and the backdrop is breath-taking. As you could imagine, having towering alps surrounding a very small lake, the breeze is chaotic. read more

Day 1 here at Marstrand dawned on us with an early start and very little wind. We ended up floating around for most of the morning waiting for the breeze to build and settle down. Eventually we got underway in nice 5-10 knot s from the typical direction. read more

The semi final didn’t go completely to plan. 2-0 down in the morning it was do or die. We died. After a great start and the lead at the top mark, Williams did a great job to hold us out at the bottom mark. A tough fort battle upwind didn’t come to much, resulting in our third loss and being knocked out of the semi final. read more
